The Inspiring Women in Construction event was held online this year due to COVID-19 restrictions; construction manager Lianne Lawson believes the lockdown and working from home has opened the construction industry to women. She believes that a more agile workforce is necessary to drive women towards the sector and that having to work from home in many cases has opened the industry up to the possibility of more flexible working conditions.
“It’s been more beneficial for women because everyone is more open to a greater equilibrium now. Particularly in the last six months, it’s become a male and female role to assist with childcare or look after relatives.”
We hope more women will be attracted into the industry and their talent retained! Having a diverse, agile workforce must be good for everybody.
