Part of a full residential refurbishment

This project in Notting Hill Gate involved the construction of a bespoke kitchen as part of a larger residential refurbishment and structural reconfiguration. Pawlus Group was appointed as the main contractor, responsible for delivering all building and construction works in accordance with the architect’s design, drawings, and specifications.

The kitchen forms part of a newly created open-plan layout, achieved through significant structural works. These included the installation of a box frame steel structure to open up the space, as well as underpinning works to support the new configuration. The result is a clear, uninterrupted connection between kitchen and living areas, enhancing both spatial flow and natural light.

Working closely with the architect and design team, we ensured all elements were executed in line with architectural and structural documentation, as well as current UK Building Regulations. Careful coordination was required throughout, particularly in sequencing structural works alongside mechanical and electrical installations to suit the new layout.

A key feature of the project is the fully bespoke kitchen, with all units built on site using hardwood. This approach allowed for complete flexibility in dimensions and detailing, ensuring precise integration with the building fabric and services. The use of hardwood provided a durable, high-quality finish, contributing to a refined and timeless aesthetic.

The project also included the installation of a bespoke Crittall-style window, adding definition between spaces while maintaining visual continuity and allowing light to flow throughout the interior.

Through accurate setting out, close collaboration with the design team, and careful management of all trades, we delivered a high-specification open-plan kitchen within a structurally complex refurbishment.
